Introduction -

This Primer is based on low molecular weight epoxy resin with high solid content cured with suitable polyamide or Amine Adduct. This system gives excellent performance in highly chemical & most severe Corrosive environment. System is unaffected by alkalinity or sulphates in soil water & suitable for use in conjunction with cathodic protection. The high film thickness reduces the required number of coats. Recommended Use: - As Intermediate Coat On structural steel, pipelines, chemical plants, water proofing areas, coastal installations, ship bottom, etc.

Application:
Before application of EP-102 Epoxy Hi-Build MIO Primer (Intermediate Coat). Use EP-102 Epoxy Zinc Rich Primer or Red Oxide Zinc Phosphate. Before applying stir the base component thoroughly and mix two parts of base and one part of hardener by volume to uniform consistency. Allow it for intermediate reaction for 15 - 20 min for stabilization and stir again before use, make required viscosity as per application method with TC/EP-102 Thinner; apply at least two coats The pot lifetime is only 3 - 4 Hrs. Mix the materials as per requirement. Close the containers immediately, to avoid the chances of moisture absorption in material and solvent losses. Do not apply in humid condition, during raining or mist and fog or at very low temperature below 10° - 12° C.

Introduction
Tuff Coat Epoxy Primer MIO is designed for use on steel surfaces for offering superior performance in highly corrosive chemical environment. The base component contains epoxy groups which reacts with amine hardeners based on polyamides Hardener to get tough, irreversible Thermoset film at an ambient or elevated temperature. To get more anticorrosive properties zinc chrome or zinc phosphate is in corporate in base. It can be over coated with Epoxy, Chloro rubber paint and PU topcoats.

Range of Application
Epoxy Primer is undercoat for Polyurethane, Epoxy and Rubber paints, for various Fertilizer Industries, Refineries, Chemical Plants, Food & Pharmaceutical Industries, Storage Tanks, Pipelines and Structural Steel work. This system is also useful for maintenance coatings. Resistance to Oils, Alcohol’s, Fats, Solvents and Water gives wide range of application in chemical plants. Good electrical properties give application in panel work.

KEY PROPERTIES
1. Cold curing & baking both systems are possible.
2. Excellent adhesion.
3. Withstand up to 300° C dry heat.
4. Good mechanical strength.
5. Gives good adhesion to topcoat of various paints.
6. Unaffected by oil, grease and aliphatic and solvents, acid and alkalis.
7. Limited resistance to ketonic solvent.
8. Good electrical properties.

APPLICATION
Before application of Epoxy MIO primer, do all necessary pretreatment of the job. For M. S. surface, remove all grease, oil and other contamination by using proper degreasing chemical. Blast clean the surface for heavy rusting or remove with de-rusting chemicals to clean the surface. The surface should be clean and dry before application. Stir base thoroughly and then mix four parts base and one part hardener by volume to uniform consistency. Give 30 minutes stabilization period to the mix. And then again stir before application.
For brushing if viscosity is higher than 60-80 sec then only add Epoxy thinner to get proper viscosity. It helps to get proper DFT. Use 10 to 15 % Epoxy thinner for conventional spray. For galvanized iron and aluminum use TC Etch Primer before application of Epoxy MIO Primer. Mix the quantity perfect in ratio. Do not mix excess material, as the pot life of mix is 4 hours only. Do not apply when temperature falls below 12° C or relative humidity rises above 90% or during rain, fog or mist. Brushes and spray equipments should be cleaned properly after application; using Epoxy Thinner otherwise equipment is liable to be damaged.
